Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for vision-impaired ex-Service men and women, is hosting a Big Help Out event at its Centre of Wellbeing in Llandudno as part of the King’s Coronation celebrations.
The event, taking place on Monday 8 May between 11am and 3pm, is an opportunity for anyone looking to volunteer to find out what roles are available with Blind Veterans UK as well as other organisations from the local area.
The charity will be welcoming the Conwy County Sea Cadets, Aberconwy Squadron Air Cadets and the Army Cadets to the centre to share their own volunteering opportunities with members of the public and to promote the benefits of joining a cadet force.
If you run a not-for-profit organisation and would like to promote volunteering opportunities, Blind Veterans UK would invite you to get in touch and join this event. Please email amy.gughrill@blindveterans.org.uk or call Amy on 01492 868700. When getting in touch, include the name of your group and the volunteering opportunities you have available. Please be aware spaces at the event are limited.
The event is open to anyone who would like to come along and find out more about the volunteering roles available at Blind Veterans UK or at the other organisations taking part.
Rosina Hearn, Community Engagement Lead at the Llandudno Centre said:
“We are incredibly excited to be getting involved with the Big Help Out initiative as part of the King’s Coronation weekend.
“At Blind Veterans UK, our volunteers are vital to the work we do and by getting involved, you could make a huge difference to a blind veteran’s life.
“There are so many ways to volunteer, you could provide crucial companionship by visiting a blind veteran at home or befriending them over the phone, you could drive a veteran to appointments or help at events.
“Every single one of our volunteers helps us to rebuild lives after sight loss.
“We are excited to welcome the public to the centre to find out more about not only our opportunities but also those of other incredibly worthwhile and hard-working organisations in our area that do so much amazing work. The cadets offer so much support to young people.”
