We’re Blind Veterans UK, a charity that helps vision-impaired ex-service people from every generation rebuild their lives after their sight has been affected. Founded in 1915, by Sir Arthur Pearson, to help the many veterans losing their sight after the First World War, we have over a century of experience providing the best care to our veterans.

Since then, we’ve provided support to tens of thousands of vision-impaired veterans, helping them to regain their independence. By providing our members with the tools and skills they need to lead a fulfilling and active life, we ensure they remain valued members of society.

We are currently seeking a Regional Administrator to join us on a full-time basis for a one year fixed term contract.

The Role

As our Regional Administrator, you will provide high-quality administrative, organisational and engagement support to our teams across the north of England.

Supporting our Service Development Managers and community teams, you will be tasked with communicating with members, organising meetings, producing reports and statistics and creating newsletters.

You will regularly attend meetings, (face to face or virtual) for which you will co-ordinate diaries, as well as take and circulate minutes. You will also be asked to support teams in other areas to meet organisational requirements.

Additionally, you will:

– Help set up and manage admin, financial, IT and paper-based systems
– Handle calls and enquires
– Help to arrange various events

About You

To be considered for the role of Regional Administrator, you will need:

– Relevant administration experience
– Experience of working with service users and/or members
– Experience of handling cash
– Excellent levels of IT proficiency
– Effective organisational skills
– The ability to take notes and transcribe meeting minutes

Experience of working with older people or people with sight loss would be beneficial to your application, as would knowledge of the military and military personnel.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams would also be advantageous, as would the ability to travel across the north of England and other locations in the UK where required.
