Last Thursday was an eventful day for The Not Forgotten Association with 12 beneficiaries attending the Founder’s Day Parade at The Royal Hospital Chelsea, before joining a further 2,500 veterans at Buckingham Palace for our Garden Party in the afternoon. Not only is the parade a sight to behold, but it was an honour and privilege for the group to be presented to His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank The Royal Hospital Chelsea for their kind invitiation!
A week on from the Association’s flagship event – our Garden Party at Buckingham Palace – we’d also like to reiterate our thanks to our main supporters, without whom we would not be able to provide this opportunity on behalf of the entire military charity community each and every year. Our sponsors include ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and Queen Mary’s Roehampton Trust.
We are also extremely fortunate to have many devoted fundraisers who tirelessly support the work of the NFA. A prime example of such dedication can be seen in those who took part in Cuthy’s Big Bike Ride. With over 200 riders cycling from Catterick Garrison to Sunderland last weekend, in aid of The Not Forgotten Association and a handful of other very worthy military charities, the event celebrated its tenth anniversary in memory of Nathan ‘Cuthy’ Cuthbertson who was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan in June 2008. In direct contrast to our Royal Party, this week the Association is hosting 20 beneficiaries in Scotland for 5 days’ worth of activities including rock climbing, canoeing, archery, pistol shooting, high-ropes and more. Staying at the Gulabin Lodge near the Spittal of Glenshee with the brilliant Daz Morgan and team, the group have been having a fantastic time – the photos (found here: https://www.nfassociation.org/single-post/2018/06/13/Activity-Week-Scotland) speak for themselves!
