We are delighted to announce Centrica as our Partner for the 2024 Soldiering On Awards Finalists’ Reception, which will take place on 23 July in the magnificent setting of the House of Lords.
This is the second year running that Centrica have supported the event and we truly value their commitment to the Awards and to showcasing our wonderful finalists.
Here, Laura Blair – Head of Centrica’s Ex-Forces Pathway and a veteran herself – explains why it is so important to her and the organisation to work together with the Soldiering On Awards to share our finalists’ stories of excellence, determination, resilience, and achievement.

Getting to Net Zero is at the forefront of what we do; this requires us to build a secure and sustainable energy system. We’re active at every step of the energy value chain. We’re ramping up energy production, building world-leading energy storage facilities and moving green power to where it’s needed. We’re also on a mission to make green technology accessible to customers and we’re equipping our workforce with the skills to build, mend, and maintain it.
Now, whilst these ambitions provide great opportunities for us all, we know they’ll be challenging. To do this, it’s crucial we engage with and tap into diversity of experience and inspirational leadership; Centrica and its Ex-Forces Pathway knows all of this exists in spades right across the Armed Forces community.
We also know every finalist nominated for the 2024 Soldiering on Awards is an exceptional example of the very best that this community produces. That’s why Centrica is delighted, humbled, and honoured for the second year running, to be the key partner of this year’s Finalists’ Reception at the House of Lords.
As a veteran myself, it really matters to me that we’re involved in the Soldiering On Awards common purpose and community, celebrating the stories of so many outstanding finalists, all of whom have shown attributes such as determination, entrepreneurship, resolve, and selfless commitment. I believe it’s important to shine a light, champion their talents, and highlight the wide range of incredible individual and team achievements. Centrica therefore looks forward to meeting the finalists on 23rd July, to celebrate their exceptional contribution to society, community and country.
