Combat Stress announced as finalists of The Learning Awards 2025

Combat Stress, the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health, has been named as a finalist for The Learning Awards 2025 – set up to recognise those who are at the forefront of making significant change through learning and development.

The charity’s learning platform is in contention for the Learning GiveBack award, which recognises individuals and organisations who have gone above and beyond; tackled social, economic, or environmental issues; contributed to community, charity, or business initiatives, and helped others through difficult times with honesty, integrity and sensitivity. Above all, it is an award for those who have successfully used learning to support the core values of humanity.

The award will be decided by public vote, which will run from noon on Tuesday 14 January until 5pm on Friday 17 January. Votes can be cast at: https://thelearningawards.com/learning-giveback/. The winners will be announced on Thursday 13 February.

Combat Stress Learning is a unique initiative led by Combat Stress clinicians and experts, sharing cutting-edge evidence-based, trauma informed expertise of veterans’ mental health with organisations who work with, employ or support veterans, so that they can help them to live healthy and meaningful lives.

To date, the platform has delivered over 1,000 hours of interactive online learning, live events and forums on subjects such as suicide prevention and transition from military to civilian life to over 350 individuals, and 100 UK charities and services, involved in supporting veterans.

No other health training space has such veteran-focused content or so many armed forces organisations collaborating. It is the trusted home for those who want to learn more about veterans’ mental health.

Andrew Veevers, Partnership Lead for Learning and Development at Combat Stress, said:

“Our Learning Community is the first of its kind. The positive impact of our learning platform on veteran mental health support underscores the importance of ongoing efforts to address mental health challenges within the veteran community. The veteran is at the heart of what we do, and we believe our training will ultimately improve the lives of veterans in the UK.

“Being recognised as finalists for The Learning Awards is a huge honour. For us to make that much of an impact on someone’s learning and professional development makes us feel immensely proud and is testament to how far Learning and Development at Combat Stress has come, in such a short space of time.”
