Defence Relationship Management – Digital Officer

The Digital Officer is responsible for the planning, monitoring and day-to-day participation in the social media channels (including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube), for Defence Relationship Management and related communications activity. This includes writing regular status updates, sourcing and creating content including podcast, evaluation and other appropriate activities such as advertising, and developing campaign email activity.

Main Accountabilities 

  • Create engaging social media content while using a variety of existing tools and software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and other design packages Drive the growth of Social Media following and engagement for DRM, via activities and strategies agreed with Digital Manager Lead on the ‘Being Forces Friendly’ podcast, planning and creating content for each series

Details and Responsibilities

Social Media

  • Utilise key Social Media applications to monitor activity and trends, and deliver DRM campaigns to support related business priorities and engagement targets
  • Produce Social Media assets matched to organisational requirements and standards, using established tools and procedures
  • Develop Social Media content to support DRM events to support attendance targets as set by the Events team
  • Establish and maintain effective Social Media tracking and reporting procedures to provide the basis for ongoing evaluation
  • Conduct Social Media advertising in key channels, including text and display ads, to support all campaign marketing strategies

Email Marketing

  • Monitor email campaign requirements and performance to provide reports and assist all teams with decision making for the future
  • Prepare, schedule and analyse emails sent as part of campaigns for central DRM and regional user community
  • To develop and manage landing pages and forms through Pardot (email marketing system)

Website Management

  • Develop and manage content for the Armed Forces Covenant and Partnering with Defence websites

Podcast

  • Curate podcast series of at least five episodes, canvasing ideas, identifying opportunities liaising with team members and external stakeholders to identify interviewees and theme ideas
  • Record and edit the podcast ensuring all are completed before the launch of each series Promote the podcast through social media channel

General

  • Support the Digital Manager in providing training on software to internal and regional team members and best practice guidelines and recommendations
  • Ensure the correct assets for the Armed Forces Covenant and Employer Recognition Scheme are available including relevant branding guidelines. Sharing these with stakeholders as needed Identify areas for potential new and revised activities based on best practice examples, and make subsequent recommendations for relevant actions
  • Maintain a good relationship with key suppliers including photographers and videographers
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate in support of DRM outputs

Required Skills

  • At least 2 years’ experience in digital communications, with demonstrable understanding of media platforms, trends and developments.
  • Ability to evaluate using Google analytics and Social Media tools
  • Experience in working with email marketing campaigns, scheduling and monitoring performance
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills

  • Experience of using Salesforce and Pardot or other MIS systems Understanding of Canva, WordPress, HTML and CSS Photoshop and Film production
  • Comfortable and capable of working and reporting across a variety of media and campaigns
  • An understanding of email automation
  • An understanding of both military and corporate cultures
