New Trustee needed for FANY Board of Trustees

We are looking for a new Trustee to join our dedicated board.

The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (Princess Royal’s Volunteer Corps), founded in 1907, is an all-female voluntary organisation which deploys multi-faceted rapid response teams to support civil and
military authorities in times of crisis. We currently operate with 136 Active volunteer members and 4 part time employees.

Being a Trustee brings with it substantial obligations to ensure the proper governance of the Corps, and any successful applicant would need to be aware of their responsibilities. More information can be found on the Gov.UK website link below:

We are looking for a Trustee who has knowledge and experience of effective governance. We are particularly interested in anyone with a background in fundraising, HR or Legal however all
applications will be considered, and our eligibility criteria are set out below:

Eligibility criteria:

  • Genuine interest in supporting and working for the good of the charity
  • No legal reason not to serve as a Trustee (ergo fit and proper)
  • No previous corporate background needed but you must have common sense and be able to contribute to meetings
  • An understanding of the responsibility of a Trustee
  • An ability to commit to a tenure of a minimum of three years and the meeting requirements (quarterly Board meetings held both in person and virtually via Teams)
  • Previous experience as a Trustee or working within the Third Sector useful but not essential
  • You must be at least 18 years of age

Time Commitment:

The board meets four times a year, with meetings held at Wellington Barracks (or via Teams), lasting approximately two hours.

2025 meeting dates are:

  • 13 May 1600-1800hrs
  • 08 July 1600-1800hrs
  • 18 November 1600-1800hrs

As this Trustee will be representing the Corps, the assessment of applications will be conducted by the Regimental Board, with the interviews and final approval being made by the Trustees.
