Forces Support – Trustee

A charity trustee plays a vital role in the governance and leadership of the charity, ensuring that it operates effectively, ethically, and in accordance with its mission, values and legal obligations.

Who are we?

Forces Support is a UK Bereavement and Veterans Charity. Launched in 2010, we operate a network of high street charity retail shops throughout the UK. Income generated from these stores is used to fund projects and initiatives delivered by our Partner Charities. All of this is only made possible by our dedicated staff and volunteers.

Our current Charity Partners are Scotty’s Little Soldiers, The Stoll Foundation, Turn to Starboard, Walking with the Wounded, The Veterans Charity and Veterans with Dogs.

About You

As a Trustee, you will be a member of a Board of Trustees, who , in conjunction with the CEO, are responsible for the governance and strategy of Forces Support, its financial health and the probity of its activities, which are defined in the charity’s  Articles of Association.

Whether you are an experienced Trustee or want to take your first step at Board level, we would be delighted to hear from you.

All areas of skill, expertise and life experience will be considered. Particularly, but not exhaustively, we would like to strengthen our Board with further experience of:

  • Media, Marketing and Communications Strategy
  • Charity Retail Strategy

Commitment

The Board currently meets face to face at our head office in Witney, 4 times a year (attending board meetings virtually would be considered for the right candidate). You may be asked to attend meetings or events between these times. You will be expected to read papers and contribute towards discussions and decisions. You will be instrumental in championing Forces Support to the wider community, generating opportunities for new Partner Charities to receive funding.
