About the role: As a Housing Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting and sustaining tenancies to our veteran communities. Working remotely but primarily covering our Morden and Ashtead sites, you will be the first point of contact for tenants, ensuring their needs are met while promoting tenancy sustainability and community wellbeing.
You’ll be fully equipped for home working and will receive ongoing support from our Head Office in Victoria, London. You will also be part of a dedicated, close-knit team that values collaboration and professional development.

About the job
Housing Officer at Haig Housing Trust, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality tenancy management services in line with HHT policies and housing legislation. Your focus will be on tenancy sustainment, property standards, and compliance, ensuring a seamless experience for residents from sign-up to tenancy termination.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tenancy Management – Oversee the full tenancy lifecycle, from sign-up to end of tenancy, ensuring smooth transitions and support where needed.
2. Tenancy Sustainment – Provide proactive support to help residents maintain successful tenancies, addressing challenges as they arise.
3. Property Standards & Inspections – Conduct regular property inspections to maintain high maintenance standards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
4. Legislative Compliance – Monitor tenancy management practices in accordance with housing legislation and HHT policies.
5. Collaborative Working – Work closely with the Senior Housing Manager (SHM) and wider HHT team to deliver first-time quality services that meet the needs of our residents.

Person Specification
Qualifications/Education – Desirable
– Relevant CIH qualification at level 3 or above
– ECDL
Knowledge, Skills & Experience – Essential
– Ability to influence people of all ages and from all backgrounds, sometimes in stressful situations, with the ability to placate and gain their trust.
– A good knowledge and experience of the range of mechanisms available to prevent the escalation of ASB and neighbour disputes.
– The ability to influence individuals and groups and to work collaboratively across a diverse range of organisations and individuals to build relationships, trust and creditability with diverse audiences
– IT & Systems Proficiency – Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and have knowledge of Civica CX or a similar housing management system.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience – Desirable
– Excellent communication skills across all mediums.
– A good understanding of the needs of the veterans’ community and the additional ability to recognise contributing factors of vulnerability.
– A high level of understanding of financial inclusion available to veterans to enabled sustainability of the tenancy
– A proven ability to analyse and determine the suitability of applicants for Trust tenancies.
– A good understanding of the legislation that governs the responsibilities for both landlords and tenants in England
