Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, visits her new charity, Haig Housing, at their Edinburgh Saughton Mains Street Estate

Haig welcomed Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, on a short visit to their Main Street estate in Saughton, Edinburgh on Monday 7 April 2025 to meet veterans and their families.

The Princess Royal is Haig Housing’s new Patron in succession to her late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Her Royal Highness was welcomed by the Chief Executive, Tim Stockings and Luise Locke, Chair of Haig’s Scottish Committee, and presented with a posy by 3 year-old Selene, granddaughter of local resident Mary Forgie who has been with Haig for 47 years. She was then briefed about Haig’s vital role as the UK’s main Veterans housing charity, the work it undertakes in providing general needs housing to Veterans and their families, as well as some of the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Her Royal Highness subsequently unveiled a plaque to commemorate her first visit to Haig Housing before being introduced to Scottish residents Mr James Renwick, Robert & Isla Thompson, Mrs Margaret Ramsay, Mrs Lynda Moffat, Miss Jackie Kyte and then visiting Colin and Angela Richards in their home.

Tim Stockings, Chief Executive of Haig Housing, said:
