LGBT Financial Recognition Scheme

The Government’s LGBT Financial Recognition (FR) Scheme is open for application. The scheme opened at 9am on 13 December 2024 and closes at 2359 on 12 December 2026. The scheme comprises of two types of Financial Recognition payments with a total of £75M set aside for payments.

Full details are available at Veterans of the LGBT Ban: Financial Recognition Scheme – GOV.UK and the Fighting With Pride website has been updated with an overview, links and notes for consideration, see FWP Overview – LGBT Financial Recognition (FR) Scheme. This is a living document that will be updated as more, amended or new information is received.

The Ministry of Defence encourages all eligible applicants to submit their applications online, which provides access to the FR Scheme App, with a dashboard enabling progress tracking and messaging. Applications can also be submitted in hard copy.

Defence Gateway login/registration is required first for confirmation of service identity, access to the application stage App and for payments to be processed.

We strongly recommend that applicants don’t rush into submitting an application, taking time first to gather necessary information, draft strong supporting narratives and ensure it is as complete as possible at submission. Once an application is submitted there is only a 2-week window to make any amendments or additions, as it then progresses to the initial application check phase.

Details of the application process and information it asks for, may be triggering. We are here to help.

If you are worried, distressed or unsure of any detail with your application for the FR Scheme, or any of the non-financial Reparations, please get in touch Here or speak with your regional FWP Veterans Community Worker (Veteran Community Team)

We are also happy to take questions at our next Town Hall, scheduled for Wednesday 18th December 2024 at 1830-2000 GMT. Registration can be made HERE.

If you missed the announcement of the scheme and the Lord Etherton Report debate in the House of Commons on the 12th Dec 2024, you can watch it HERE.
