A regional team of career experts work with employers to help veterans with health challenges into rewarding and sustainable work.

Consultants work with each veteran to create a personal career plan, give free CV and interview training, and source local job opportunities with supportive employers. A network of volunteer mentors and ongoing in-work support ensures that Poppy Factory ‘clients’ thrive in their new workplace.

Any veteran with a physical or mental health condition can register, as long as they are no longer being supported through the Career Transition Partnership as part of their resettlement. The Poppy Factory’s Getting You Back To Work service has already helped hundreds of disabled veterans into meaningful and sustainable work.

Money raised from the Scottish Poppy Appeal and Poppyscotland’s year-round fundraising enables them to deliver support to members of the Armed Forces community in Scotland by providing tailored funding and assistance. The charity also funds services in advice, employment, housing, mental health, mobility and respite.

Support Offered

PTSD Resolution accepts referrals from all sources including self-referral. Screening verifies eligibility and assigns the nearest available therapist, from a network of 200 registered with the Professional Standards Authority through the Human Given Institute. Help is provided free, locally, and in complete confidence, designed to reduce symptoms typically within six sessions. There is no requirement to re-tell or re-live the trauma. Assistance is provided for finding social support as required. Results are followed up after three months.

The Trustees meet the object of the Trust by making grants to any charitable institutions or organisations whose objects include the reception, accommodation, treatment or after-care of people who come within the Trust’s object as set out above. The Trustees may also make grants in aid of medical or surgical research into the needs of injured and disabled persons who served in the Armed Forces.

Mindful of the ever-changing landscape within the serving and ex-service community, and the evolving needs of beneficiaries, the Trustees review the grant-giving policy on an annual basis.

QVSR’s Welfare Team assists residents with benefit applications and access to individual grants as well as providing support with medical and emotional issues through signposting to appropriate organisations. QVSR aims to provide an environment where residents are able to rebuild their lives, regain their self-confidence and make the transition from homelessness to more
independent living.
QVSR’s facilities include en-suite bedroom accommodation, modern restaurant and evening coffee shop, TV lounges, Wi-fi, snooker and pool, gym, Chapel, multi-faith or “quiet room” and garden.
