BACKGROUND AND ROLE SUMMARY
We are the Military Wives Choirs, the only charity that focuses on building wellbeing and resilience, through singing, for all women impacted by their military connection. Our mission, Sing, Share, Support, is at the heart of everything we do.
In 2023 we entered our second decade, marked by some big changes in the way we operate, establishing ourselves as an independent charity after being a former subsidiary of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. We continue to work closely with SSAFA in our shared aims of providing support to our Forces and their families. This new decade and status create enormous possibilities and the new strategy sets out how we will leverage these and build a sustainable future.
This role is part of the Choirs Support Team (CST), a small dedicated team who supports the network of Military Wives Choirs and the performances of Military Wives Choirs as a recording and performing artist. The CST manages the day to day running of the charity and the network, provides support and advice and seek ‘once in a lifetime opportunities’ for our choir members to take part in, such as recording music or participating in the Kings’ Coronation.
This role is key to supporting our choirs and their performances both locally and centrally. You will be responsible for booking, developing and delivering a range of central musical events and performances, liaising with a range of different partners including venues, conductors, musicians, sound technicians, video makers, alongside our network of choirs to ensure the best possible performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Negotiate, budget, and deliver regional and national performance opportunities in line with The Military Wives Choirs strategy
- Identify performance and events opportunities nationwide for Military Wives and Choirs to raise profile and funds for the charity.
- Produce detailed proposals for performances and events (including timelines, venues, suppliers, legal requirements, staffing and budgets), ensuring best value for money, for approval
- Research venues, suppliers and contractors, then negotiate prices and hire
- Coordinate suppliers, handle client queries and troubleshoot on the day of the performance or event to ensure that they run smoothly, to budget and provide a quality performance for the audience and a memorable experience for choir members.
- Manage all pre-event / performance planning, organise performers and musical materials
- Ensure all events / performances have a PR plan and are supported by appropriate media (photos and video) to maximise the promotion/profile-raising opportunity
- Ensure that insurance, legal, health and safety obligations are followed
- Ensure all relevant information regarding central performances is communicated in a timely fashion to our choir members and the Trustee Board
- Ensure that all events are supported by appropriate processes and policies and that these are followed for all engagements
- Establish a good working relationship with The Military Wives Choirs Artistic Director and other key musical stakeholders
Applications close Wednesday 30 July, 2024.
