More radio choice for Salisbury as local DAB digital radio finally arrives in South Wiltshire   

18 new DAB+ digital radio services have launched in Salisbury.

The stations are available as Muxcast Salisbury, a joint venture between leading UK commercial group Nation Broadcasting and forces broadcaster BFBS, switched on two transmitters – at Camp Hill and Bulford Camp as part of its Salisbury multiplex. It also means that for the first time, listeners in the Salisbury area now able to listen to local digital radio services.

Ash Elford, Nation Broadcasting’s DAB Platform Manager says:

“We are proud to have launched our Salisbury DAB+ multiplex. This launch has continued Nation’s commitment towards making digital radio accessible to broadcasters of all sizes, as well as significantly increasing listener choice in the Salisbury area. Digital radio ownership in Salisbury is strong, and we look forward to listeners exploring the new services that are now available.”  

Nicky Ness, Director of Broadcasting at BFBS says:

“BFBS has been firmly established in Salisbury Plain on analogue radio for many years, but from today we are now able to broadcast four services on DAB digital radio to the wider Salisbury area. This is a huge development for the Armed Forces community.”  

To enjoy the new services, listeners in the Salisbury area should ‘autotune’ or ‘scan’ their DAB+ digital radio. The new services will then be present as part of the alphabetical station list on most radios.

The new digital radio services available in Salisbury available on DAB+ (unless marked) are:

  • BFBS Salisbury Plain
  • Greatest Hits Radio Salisbury (DAB)
  • Greatest Hits Radio South Coast
  • Hot Gold

  • Nation 70s
  • Nation 80s
  • Nation 90s
  • Salisbury Radio
  • Talk Radio
  • Times Radio
  • Virgin Radio

The services are broadcast digitally from two transmitters on a licence awarded by the broadcast regulator Ofcom. DAB+ digital radios are on sale from electrical retailers and supermarkets from as little as £25.
