National Army Museum – Summer Placement: Chelsea History Festival Merchandising and Ticketing Coordinator Support

The National Army Museum’s mission is to tell the story of Our Army and the people who have served in it; to inspire, engage and educate, via our World Class Museum and Collections. Through our galleries and innovative exhibitions and public programme, the public can explore what it’s like to be a soldier, why we fought in conflicts – past and present, and discover the impact the Army has had on our society.

This year the Museum is hosting summer placements and we welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.

National Living/Minimum Wage*

We have an exciting summer placement opportunity, running through until end September 2024.  The role is part of the Retail and Admissions Team and wider Chelsea History Festival team; working to support in the planning and delivery of our annual Chelsea History Festival.  Now in its 6th year, the festival brings the past to life, in an immersive mixture of events, which includes world class speakers, authors, historians and performers.

The role would suit those with experience in administration, data entry and systems usage. This is a great role for someone with a passion for books and history and looking to gain experience in Museums and working as part of a project.

You will have excellent organisational and time management skills, an eye for detail and be able to competently use spreadsheets, excel and word.

As part of the festival and museum team, you will support in planning, ordering and co-ordinating festival book orders and deliveries.  You will set books up on the retail system, ensure that information is communicated to publishers in a timely manner, all book orders arrive in good time and are checked in on the system against purchase orders accurately.  You will support in overseeing festival book signings and selling, ensuring  the correct labelling, storage and movement of book stock, to ensure efficient logistical operations.

The timings and duration of all placements can be flexible to suit applicants’ study/term times (if applicable) and will be paid at either, National Minimum/Living Wage (*age dependant).  Full induction and training will be provided.
