Deptherapy wins prestigious Soldiering On Award

The outstanding work of scuba diving rehabilitation charity Deptherapy & Deptherapy Education has been recognised with the presentation of a top military Award.

Richard Cullen, Founder and Chairman of Deptherapy & Deptherapy Education, received the Soldiering On Award on behalf of the charity at a black tie gala event at the Westminster Park Plaza in London on Friday 20th April 2018.

Deptherapy & Deptherapy Education was judged by an independent panel to be the winner in the Healthcare & Rehabilitation (Group) category.

Deptherapy Ambassador Ben Lee wins Endeavour Fund Award

At a special Awards Ceremony at Goldsmiths’ Hall in London last night, inspirational Deptherapy Programme Member and Ambassador Ben Lee was one of three wounded ex-servicemen honoured to receive an Endeavour Fund Award in the presence of HRH Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle.

Ben Lee, a former Private in the Royal Engineers, who lost both his legs and suffered other catastrophic injuries whilst searching and disposing of IEDs in Afghanistan in 2011, was presented with The Recognising Achievement Award.

The Royal Foundation’s Endeavour Fund supports wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women and encourages them to rekindle their fighting spirit through sporting and adventurous endeavours.

Scuba Diving rehabilitation charity Deptherapy & Deptherapy Education is honoured to announce that the charity has been shortlisted as a Finalist for the 2018 Soldiering On Awards.

Deptherapy & Deptherapy Education is shortlisted in the Healthcare & Rehabilitation category. Sponsored by Redwood Technologies Group, this Award will be given ‘in recognition of a person or team who have made a major contribution in the treatment of ill health or injury, or provided exceptional skill and commitment to healthcare treatment, recovery and rehabilitation of serving and former members of the Armed Forces Community.’

Deptherapy is pleased to announce a new Patron

Major General Paul Nanson CBE, Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst has accepted an invitation from Deptherapy’s President Air Vice Marshal Jon Lamonte to join the Deptherapy team as a Patron. General Nanson is a scuba diver and kindly attended the Deptherapy Awards ceremony in October where with Air Vice Marshal Paul Colley he presented the awards.

Deptherapy and Divecrew Grant Scuba Diver’s Last Wish this Christmas

A team from scuba diving rehabilitation charity, Deptherapy, and PADI 5* dive centre Divecrew, have made a scuba diver’s wish for one, last dive come true this Christmas.

Colin Clements, 60, from Woodley, Berkshire, is suffering from an aggressive form of brain cancer that will take his life in the near future. Knowing he would be unable to dive again, Colin donated his diving equipment to Deptherapy so that other divers could be helped by his loss.

When contacting Colin to offer his thanks for this brave and selfless gesture, Richard Cullen, Deptherapy Chairman, was made aware that Colin had a dying wish to undertake one, last dive.

Charity and Dive Centre to Grant Scuba Diver’s Last Wish this Christmas

Deptherapy, the charity that seeks to rehabilitate UK Armed Service personnel who have suffered life changing mental and/or physical challenges, and Crowthorne’s PADI 5* dive centre Divecrew, are teaming up to grant a scuba diver his last wish this Christmas.

When Colin Clements and his friend Daphne Pearson walked into Crowthorne-based PADI dive centre Divecrew, no one expected what was to happen next.

Deptherapy is pleased to announce two major expeditions 2018 together with the team selection for each expedition 

The first to Roots Red Sea in Egypt is the largest expedition to date and is aimed at new divers who will undertake their PADI Open Water courses and also a number of divers who are part of the Deptherapy continuing education programme.

In August the charity undertakes its most challenging expedition, thus far, by taking 14 WIS veterans to dive Chuuk Lagoon, widely regarded as the best wreck diving site in the world. The selection process has been rigorous and based on diving ability and commitment to personal development through the continuing education programme.

Deptherapy Diving Team achieves continued success in Red Sea

A team from scuba diving rehabilitation charity Deptherapy has returned from another successful Red Sea training programme with three new PADI Open Water Divers, one PADI Advanced & Deep Diver and four PADI Rescue Divers.

The latest Deptherapy programme took place during the last week in October and was the second to take place this year at Roots Red Sea in El Quseir. The Programme Members were all wounded in service veterans from the UK Armed Forces suffering from life changing mental and/or physical injuries including several with acute PTSD.

Deptherapy honours Members and Supporters in Awards Ceremony

Scuba Diving rehabilitation charity Deptherapy honoured its Programme Members, Supporters and Corporate Sponsors in an Awards Ceremony on Saturday 21st October during the DIVE 2017 show weekend.

The Deptherapy Awards Ceremony, the first of its kind for the charity, took place in conjunction with the Pharoah Dive Club 10th Anniversary Bash at the Village Hotel, Solihull. The evening event, which was attended by over 200 ticket holders and organised by Steve and Clare Rattle, was a celebration of ten successful years of Pharoah Dive Club and Roots Red Sea. The Anniversary Bash was also recognition of the special partnership that exists between Deptherapy and the Egyptian dive resort, which hosts the majority of the charity’s overseas training programmes.

Deptherapy team herald most successful training programme yet

A team from scuba diving rehabilitation charity Deptherapy has recently returned from their largest ever and most successful programme yet.

14 wounded in service veterans, all suffering from life changing mental and/or physical injuries, took part in the Deptherapy programme in May at Roots Red Sea, El Quseir, Egypt.

Six veterans successfully completed the PADI Open Water course with five of these continuing on to qualify as PADI Advanced Open Water Divers during the week.
