The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity Greenwich Hospital Grant awards £40,000 to Combat Stress

Veterans’ mental health charity Combat Stress has received a £40,000 grant from The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and their strategic partner, Greenwich Hospital.

This generous grant has been awarded to go towards core treatment and support costs for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines veterans that come to the charity. Combat Stress provides specialist treatment at its treatment centres, practical and clinical support in the Community and a free 24-hour Helpline.

How to Celebrate Red, White and Blue Day

Red, White and Blue Day is a national fundraising campaign for schools that raises money in support of the RAF Benevolent Fund, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. The money raised is split between the three long-established charities which all have close ties with our Armed Forces.

This year’s campaign will take place on Friday 6 October, with thousands of school children across the UK dressing up in red, white and blue in support of the men and women of the Armed Forces.

Top Philanthropist Hintze’s Contribution Recognised at National Naval Charity

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has awarded noted philanthropist and friend of the charity, Sir Michael Hintze, the role of Senior Vice Patron.

This key ambassadorial role recognises Sir Michael’s extraordinary encouragement and support of the RNRMC over the last eight years, which has been invaluable as the Charity has established itself on the national scene.

Sir Michael Hintze’s leadership and example have been crucial in attracting philanthropic donations to assist the work of the charity. His loyalty, the momentum that his support has generated, and the generosity of the Hintze Family Foundation, has enabled the RNRMC in its mission to support sailors, marines and their families, for life.

Record numbers of Naval children attend Kings Camps in Portsmouth and Fareham

The Kings Camp at both HMS Temeraire and HMS Collingwood ended this year with record high numbers of naval children in attendance.

Children from ages 5 to 14 years-old turned up in their droves to attend this summer’s sporting activity camps. The camps, which play host to children from naval background, offer a plethora of fun sports activities from Badminton to Swimming, the camp offers it all.

Having begun as a single week at HMS Temeraire with between 30 and 40 children, Kings Camp Portsmouth and HMS Collingwood in Fareham now host over 210 children between them.

The stylish hessian bags that feature an artistic stencil of HMS Queen Elizabeth have sold at such an impressive rate, that over 1000 bags were sold within the first 12 hours alone.

Not only are the ‘Carrier Bags’ a memento of an historic day in Britain’s naval history but 100% of the funds raised by the bags will go towards aiding the naval community. As the official charity of the Royal Navy, the RNRMC’s mission is to ensure that sailors, marines, veterans and their families are supported, for life.

Over £35,850 raised for Armed Forces at Royal Ascot this year

A staggering £35,850 was raised on the Friday at Royal Ascot for the three leading Armed Forces charities, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

For the fifth year running military personnel joined racegoers for Royal Ascot’s unofficial Armed Forces Day. In addition to special ticket offers for military personnel, 80 volunteers from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army, and Royal Air Force carried out collections for their principal charities.

This year, the generous racegoers donated an incredible £22,103 in just two hours. The sale of 5,499 jugs of Pimms led to a further donation of £13,747 bringing the total to £35,850 for the day.

Innovative projects required for The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity’s ‘Helping Hands’ programme

The RNRMC’s ‘Helping Hands’ programme, which is a new prevention and early intervention initiative, is looking for charitable projects that recruit volunteers to provide support, friendship and practical help for naval service beneficiaries.

Made available through Treasury Libor funds, ‘Helping Hands’ is a programme that financially supports charities that can demonstrate the effective deployment of volunteers within their respective groups.

The RNRMC are searching for innovative ideas that will have a positive impact on naval service beneficiaries lives.

International adventurer and survivalist Bear Grylls is offering two lucky fans the opportunity of a lifetime to help mark the 10th birthday of The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. The Massed Bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines will bring a dazzling show to Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on Saturday 27 May, fresh off-the-back of their world-famous Mountbatten Festival of Music performance at the Royal Albert Hall.
