Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity donates £20,000 to Fisher House

Fisher House, a ‘home away from home’ for military patients and their families, has received a fantastic donation from the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

Fisher House was built on-site of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, which is home to the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, in June 2013. Its mission is to provide free, comfortable accommodation for the families of wounded and ill troops and veterans. It has 18 en-suite bedrooms and guests can stay for as long as they need to; Fisher House’s longest resident was there for 18 months whilst her husband was in hospital.

Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity launches fundraising campaign to mark 100th anniversary of the Army v Navy rugby match

The national charity of the Royal Navy has launched a new fundraising campaign, Twickenham 100, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Army v Navy rugby match, held at Twickenham Stadium.

The campaign challenges groups and individuals nationwide to carry out their own fundraising activities, of any description, related to the number 100 in the run up to match day on 29 April to raise funds for The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

Vice Patron Lance Batchelor visits Royal Navy charity HQ

Staff at The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) were delighted to recently spend time with their Vice Patron and major donor, Honorary Commander Lance Batchelor RNR.

Lance, who toured the charity’s premises accompanied by his wife Wendy, is the CEO of Saga plc, the FTSE-listed provider of Insurance, Travel, Financial Services and Homecare to the over 50s.

Royal Navy Dinghy Sailors in new record-breaking bid

Two sailors have been backed by two charities as they plan to break their own dinghy endurance world record.

The ambitious voyage, from Plymouth to Scotland, will not only raise awareness of dinghy sailing as a sport, especially within the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, but also raise awareness and funds for the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity and Bowel Cancer UK.

Royal Navy charity launches 10th year birthday celebrations with HRH The Princess Royal in Portsmouth

An intimate dinner attended by HRH The Princess Royal has officially marked the launch of a year-long 10th birthday celebration for the Royal Navy’s national charity, The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

The dinner, held on HMS Victory in Portsmouth on Wednesday (25 January), was hosted by the Second Sea Lord of the Royal Navy, Vice Admiral Jonathan Woodcock OBE, who spoke of the special relationship between the Royal Navy and its charity.

Charitable flats for Royal Navy personnel in Portsmouth officially open their doors

A six-figure accommodation project for Armed Forces personnel in Portsmouth has been completed and handed over to the Royal Navy, following years of planning and charitable funding.

The three self-contained family flats, nicknamed, the ‘Navy Mews’, have been constructed within the walls of HMNB Portsmouth (HMS Nelson) for the sole use of Service Personnel on a priority basis.

The project would not have been possible without the support of the Royal Navy’s principal charity, The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), which granted £250,000 of its allocation of LIBOR funds to the flats in 2015.

Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity CEO Robert Robson has been awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours

Robert joined the RNRMC in September 2008 as Chief Executive Officer, a move which he says brought him back “home”, having previously served as a warfare officer in the Royal Navy in the 1980s. After a 20 year “interim” stint with Barclays, which took him all over the UK and Europe, he took the helm of the Charity at the beginning of the voyage of discovery that awaited.
