Centenary Lodge on Evelyn Avenue will be home to a mixed community of Veterans of different ages, their partners and families. The University of York research that we launched at the reception highlights how some ex-Service personnel slip through the net and end up homeless after leaving the Armed Forces. Evidence suggests that well over a thousand ex-service personnel each year require urgent support to find accommodation.
On the back of this research we developed a Call to Action to help tackle this important issue.

The Cluster is a combination of 30 veterans’ housing organizations and charities formed to provide veteran specific housing and create an integrated veterans’ housing sector, with clear pathways for ex-Service personnel and their families in housing need to move into permanent homes.

Last month I declared my intention to run the London Marathon on Sunday April 22nd. The attempt is very much on and training is in full swing!

With others experiencing crises in their lives, urgent intervention is needed to provide the necessary support for vulnerable veterans. Whilst there is a significant amount of good and effective provision to support veterans, new research from the University of York highlights there are still many ex-service personnel falling unnecessarily through the gaps.
