The life of former Prime Minister and war time leader, Sir Winston Churchill, is the subject of a fascinating lecture being hosted by Stoll, the leading provider of supported housing for Veterans. Sir Winston’s grandson, The Rt Hon Sir Nicholas Soames MP, will give the lecture at the Churchill War Rooms in London on 12 October at 7.30pm.

Ministers from the British Government, Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand discussed the bespoke housing and employment support that helps ex-Servicemen and women lead independent lives.
The delegation toured Stoll’s main housing scheme which is home to 150 Veterans, many of whom have experienced mental illness and physical injuries as a result of their Service.

Alongside the housing Stoll provides, the charity offers a unique combination of health, wellbeing and employment support to vulnerable and disabled ex-Servicemen and women to help them live as independently as possible. Stoll will use the funding to support elderly and disabled Veterans and their dependents, enabling them to remain in the comfort of their own home. This includes providing domestic support such as helping with washing and cleaning.
Read moreThe Veterans’ Kitchen at Stoll on the Fulham Road is re-opening today after a facelift selling a great range of breakfasts, salt beef bagels and summer snacks. The café is run solely by Stoll Veterans giving people a chance to gain new skills and training when they leave the Armed Forces.
The Veterans’ Kitchen is run by Army Veteran Ian Camps who served in Northern Ireland and in Cyprus. When he left the Forces he became homeless before getting a home to rent with Stoll in West London. He then re-trained as a chef and now leads a team of staff and volunteers at the café.

Thirty four homes are currently being built in Evelyn Avenue for vulnerable and disabled Veterans to rent from Spring 2018.
Andrea Howlett, Stoll’s Director of Housing and Development said: “Given the shortage of appropriate housing for Veterans, we are inviting Veterans who need both housing and support to apply for a new home. The new purpose built accommodation will enable people who have served in the Armed Forces to rent an affordable place to live. People will also receive tailored support to meet their individual needs.”

Read moreService Leavers who are likely to struggle to adapt to civilian life should be identified by the Ministry of Defence before they leave the Armed Forces and offered tailored support to help transition effectively, according to two Veterans’ organisations. Armed Forces charities Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) and Stoll, the leading provider of supported housing for Veterans, are calling for services to be developed across the UK that ensure the most vulnerable Service Leavers receive the health and welfare support they need, and avoid homelessness and unemployment. Service Leavers who are most likely to struggle with adapting to civilian life include people with mental health issues, and those with no settled home or family life to go to after their transition into civilian life.
