Walking With The Wounded receive a visit from the US Ambassador

Walking With The Wounded was very pleased to welcome the US Ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson, to their London office at Royal Hospital Chelsea on 8th February.

Key to Walking With The Wounded’s success, is their philosophy of collaboration. They partner with many organisations to ensure that beneficiaries receive a full holistic service of the best quality. However, WWTW’s ethos of working in collaboration does not just extend to the UK. The charity share Prince Harry’s vision that as allies who fight together, so should our UK and US servicemen and women recover together.

Step up for our Armed Forces community this summer and join Walking With The Wounded for the Balmoral Challenge 2018

Walking With The Wounded is descending on Her Majesty The Queen’s stunning Balmoral Castle and Estate for the second year running this June. Take on the wee Cairn Chaser to explore the forests above the castle. If you’re after an orienteering adventure, how many checkpoints can you collect before time runs out in The Prince’s Stone? Or perhaps you’ll take on the Triple Crown, a 30km race back to the castle over 3 Munros, starting from a secret drop-off location. There’s a route for all abilities, and at the heart of it all, a brilliant cause – to support our ex-servicemen and women who have struggled with their transition from the Armed Forces into civilian life.

RFEA – The Forces Employment Charity and Walking With The Wounded become first UK Charities to receive Call of Duty Endowment Seal of Distinction Awards

The Call of Duty™ Endowment (“the Endowment”) is proud to announce the selection of RFEA – The Forces Employment Charity and Walking With The Wounded as the first UK recipients of the Call of Duty™ Endowment Seal of Distinction, the standard of excellence in the veterans’ employment sector. Winners each receive a $30,000 unrestricted grant and the opportunity to apply for additional funding, advice, and support.

“Meaningful employment is the single most important way to ensure that service members successfully transition back to civilian life,” said Dan Goldenberg, Executive Director of the Call of Duty Endowment.

Prince William officially launches Step Into Health

A first access pathway for ex-servicemen and women seeking a new career with the NHS.

We were very proud to attend the national public launch of Step Into Health on Thursday 18th January with by The Duke of Cambridge.

The Step into Health initiative was developed by Walking With The Wounded in partnership with Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the NHS Foundation Trust in 2014. It is supported by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry through the Royal Foundation.

Footprints in the Snow: Jamie Lawson’s new video has launched!

The brand new video for Jamie Lawson’s Christmas single, ‘Footprints In The Snow’, is finally here!

Thank you to Jamie who is supporting our #WalkingHomeForChristmas campaign. Join Jamie by going for ANY walk this December and ensure that our ex-servicemen and women who are homeless, unemployed or struggling with their mental health get the support they need to regain their independence.

Footprints in the Snow: Jamie Lawson’s new single is supporting Walking Home For Christmas!

Walking With The Wounded is very excited to announce that award winning singer-songwriter, Jamie Lawson, has chosen to support Walking Home For Christmas this year. All funds raised from his new Christmas single, ‘Footprints in the Snow’, will go towards supporting ex-service personnel. WWTW hope the military community will get behind Jamie’s single in a bid to secure the number 1 spot this Christmas and support those who need it most.

“I’m very proud to have been asked to sing this song. The work being done by Walking With The Wounded for ex-servicemen and women is inspirational and changes people’s lives.

DIY SOS is back supporting our veterans

The team returns to the Veterans Village to finish the extraordinary project which originated from a chance meeting between Nick and WWTW’s Founder & CEO, Ed Parker.

The project started two years ago, building homes for veterans and revitalising a community.

Once a dilapidated street on the outskirts of Manchester, the street is now home to some ex-servicemen and women who initially struggled with the transition back into civvy-life after leaving the Armed Forces.

Wednesday 1st November – Walking With The Wounded host a supporters’ drinks evening in Newcastle

Newcastle, join Walking With The Wounded at Scalini’s Loft Bar on Osborne Road, Newcastle upon Tyne for an informal drinks evening with an update on the charity and hear how you can become an ambassador for our Walking Home For Christmas campaign.

Military charity Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) is estimating it will treble the number of ex-servicemen and women it supports in 2018, following a 97% increase last year to more than 1,000. With Christmas fast approaching, for many a time of financial pressure and loneliness, more ex-service personnel than ever require support. “I realise that I have made a few mistakes in my life but the help I have received has been the stepping stone for me to make my life better and support my family,” says Simon from Sunderland who joined the Parachute Regiment in 2006, aged 17.
