Forces in Mind Trust appoints Amazon PR

Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT), which works to ensure all ex-Service personnel and their families successfully transition to civilian life, has appointed Amazon PR to provide strategic communications and influencing services following a competitive tender.

Established in 2012 with a £35 million endowment from the Big Lottery Fund, FiMT awards grants, commissions research and supports projects that deliver long-term solutions to the challenges faced by the Armed Forces Community.

Forces Radio BFBS Now on DAB+ in the UK

Forces Radio BFBS, the ad-free broadcaster which entertains, informs, connects and champions the British Forces community, launched on DAB+ in the UK this morning.

Station favourites such as X Factor finalist, Jay James, and award-winning presenter, Hal Stewart, are part of the station line-up with their highly energetic, fun-packed music and entertainment radio programme, ‘The Big Show’.

Former Magic co-host, Verity Geere, and forces favourite, Richard Hatch, are now waking up the nation with their breakfast show every weekday morning on DAB+.

Big Salute Grant Awarded to Felix Fund

Felix Fund is just one of a wide range of charities that offer help and support to service personnel, veterans and their families to have received BFBS Big Salute grants.

These latest grants have been funded by the 2016-2017 Big Salute campaign, thanks to generous donations and sponsored events undertaken by personnel and military communities from across the forces world.

And this year, the Big Salute fundraising pot had additional support from the Services Sound and Vision Corporation’s (SSVC) Board of Trustees.

100th air cadet set to fly for RAF’s centenary year thanks to the RAF Association

The RAF Association is preparing to send its 100th air cadet flying, with its 2018 Flying Scholarship programme. Coinciding with the RAF centenary year, six air-minded youths will be awarded flight training including the 100th recipient of the Flying Scholarship. However, cadets’ keen to apply must hurry, the closing date for all entries is 31 January 2018.

Through the scholarship programme, air cadets are given the opportunity to take to the skies, with one air cadet awarded 35 hours flight training in a light aircraft. Five runners-up will each receive 12 hours.

Proposal to provide new homes and support services to homeless and vulnerable Veterans across the country

Servicemen and women leaving the Armed Forces, who struggle to reintegrate into civilian life, would benefit from vital new housing and support services in a landmark proposal announced today by Stoll, the leading provider of supported housing for Veterans in the UK.

Stoll intends to provide at least three hundred more homes for vulnerable and disabled Veterans in need, subject to the outcome of a consultation, to help address the shortfall in Veterans’ housing identified in research by the University of York.

After a decade as Chief Executive Officer, Robert Robson has informed the Royal Navy and Royal Marines board that he intends to step down from the role during the summer of 2018.

The last decade has seen the charity established both inside the Service and on the national stage as the primary grantmaking and fundraising charity for its beneficiaries who serve or have served in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. With a focused strategy, a settled board and a team delivering well, the RNRMC is strongly positioned to expand and build on these firm foundations.

Deptherapy is pleased to announce a new Patron

Major General Paul Nanson CBE, Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst has accepted an invitation from Deptherapy’s President Air Vice Marshal Jon Lamonte to join the Deptherapy team as a Patron. General Nanson is a scuba diver and kindly attended the Deptherapy Awards ceremony in October where with Air Vice Marshal Paul Colley he presented the awards.

The Veterans’ Pain Clinic – Next appointments available Monday 12th February 2018

The Veterans Pain Clinic is free of charge to all veterans who are able to provide proof of service. The costs will be covered by the Hospitals’ Military Grants Fund charity.

The consultant is Dr Dominic Aldington. Having served in the Royal Army Medical Corps he was the Subject Matter Expert in Pain to the Surgeon General and was responsible for organising pain relief from the point of injury until a casualty left the service.

Treasury awards ABF The Soldiers’ Charity £1.2 million to provide bespoke medical welfare service in partnership with DMWS

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is delighted to announce that its bid for £1.2m funding from the LIBOR fund has been approved by the Chancellor.

The grant will enable a bespoke medical welfare service for the Armed Forces community in hospitals or healthcare across South England, which will be delivered by our partner the Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS). The 3-year project will provide vital support for Armed Forces serving personnel, veterans and their families, who can face unique pressures when ill – often being based away from their extended families or with partners deployed on operations.
