Jonathan Sandall appointed as Director of Fundraising at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is delighted to announce that Jonathan Sandall has been appointed as its new Director of Fundraising. Jonathan will join SSAFA on Monday 20 November 2017.

Jonathan is the former Director of Fundraising at Peabody, an organisation addressing poverty, isolation and vulnerability in communities across London. He has also held senior fundraising and business development roles at Shelter and Make-A-Wish UK.

Scotty’s Little Soldiers aims to raise community spirit with new appointment

Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the charity dedicated to supporting bereaved Forces children, has appointed a new Fundraising Manager who will champion volunteering and community fundraising for the charity across the UK.

Tammy Green, who joins the charity as Community Fundraising Manager, will be heavily focused on creating Volunteer Fundraising Groups across the country together with recruiting volunteers to help with a range of support roles within the charity.

Tammy, who has over 15 years’ experience within the charity sector, is keen to speak to people across the country who would be willing to help support a worthy cause, which depends heavily on its volunteers.

New charity appointment aims to increase corporate and employee engagement in maritime

Mairéad Ní Cheóinín has been appointed to Seafarers UK as the charity’s new Corporate Fundraising Manager where her focus will be on engaging with the commercial maritime sector.

Mairéad brings a wealth of business development, marketing experience and industry knowledge to the position from her previous roles, working with Steamship Mutual P&I, TradeWinds, Informa PLC in London and the Irish Maritime Development Office in Dublin.

Mairéad joins the grant-giving, campaigning and fundraising charity at an exciting time, as it celebrates its Centenary and is looking ahead to the next phase of its future. Her role will be to raise awareness of Seafarers UK’s wider impact within the maritime charity sector.

Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund appoints John Trampleasure as Director of Fundraising and Communications

The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, the RAF’s leading welfare charity, is pleased to announce that John Trampleasure has joined its senior leadership team as Director of Fundraising and Communications effective Monday 2 October.

John has led an exciting 25-year career in fundraising and communications within the third sector, working for organisations such as Shelter, World Animal Protection and most recently, Ambitious About Autism.

In his role, John will lead a team of more than 30 staff across RAF Benevolent Fund headquarters and regional offices as the organisation gets ready to roll out a new three-year strategic plan led by new Controller Air Vice-Marshal David Murray, who joined the Fund last year.

Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans welcome new team leaders in Bristol and Gloucestershire

Alabaré are delighted to welcome Kenneth Kwogyenga as the new Gloucestershire Homes for Veterans Team Leader and Harrison Buttress as new Team Leader in Bristol Homes for Veterans.

Kenneth has been working with Alabaré for almost 4 years as one of the housing support workers at Homes for Veterans Gloucestershire. Originally, from Ghana, Kenny served in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He left after a tour of Afghanistan to pursue a new career, and found himself working for Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans, helping homeless Veterans in need.

Air Marshal Sir Baz North replaces Air Marshal Sir Dusty Miller as President – as the Association experiences big growth in membership and also in calls for welfare assistance

The Royal Air Forces (RAF) Association today announces the appointment of Air Marshal Sir Baz North as its new President, replacing Air Marshal Sir Dusty Miller.

In his new role, Sir Baz will join the charity’s board of trustees and play a key role in ensuring the Association continues to provide world-class support to the RAF family.

Charity welcomes two new team members

A charity in Falmouth who support veterans affected by military operations has announced the appointment of two new staff members.

Nadia Hughes-Penzer is appointed Events and Fundraising Coordinator at Turn to Starboard, a sailing charity based at Falmouth Marina. She is joined by communications expert Marie Harris who will help to promote a round Britain Challenge sailing expedition organised by the charity and sets sail next month.

Turn to Starboard support injured veterans from all over the UK by taking them sailing and help many to gain RYA sailing qualifications to start new careers. Nadia decided to join the charity after being inspired by the service it offers.

New Regional Fundraiser joins Poppyscotland team

Poppyscotland is delighted to announce the arrival of a new Regional Fundraiser for its welfare centre in Inverness. Frances Beveridge joins a team going from strength to strength since the centre opened its doors four years ago.

In her role, Frances will develop, implement and grow supporter-led fundraising within the region. A critical aspect of the job is to support the volunteer Poppy Appeal Area Organisers to maximise their local appeal totals and Frances will also be working to maximise the potential of the schools fundraising strategy and promote and enable supporter participation in large-scale national events.
