Almost 300 guests will attend a formal Reception and Dinner in Guildhall to mark the occasion. Celebrated guests will include HRH The Earl of Wessex (President of the charity since 2012, when he succeeded The Duke of Edinburgh), Admiral of The Fleet The Lord Boyce, Admiral The Lord West of Spithead and the First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Philip Jones.

Relaunch for Launchpad

This week, award winning veterans’ charity AF&V Launchpad rebrands as Launchpad and introduces a new logo to reflect the organisation’s mission and goals.

The new logo has a combination of the Union Flag, shaped as a triangle above the word ‘Launchpad’ to signify a roof – representing the security that the charity provides. Coloured lines extend below the ‘house’ to denote the different services. It is hoped that the shorter name and simpler, more striking logo will make the charity more recognisable.

The SSVC Forces Welfare Media Team has been busier than ever in recent weeks.

Rick fondly remembers his Army career but no longer has any photos from the time. The Welfare Team helped him to appeal on social media which led to numerous messages of support by friends he made in the Army and at school, as well as a number of photos.

A message from the Chairman

It is now a month since I took over as the Chairman of Cobseo and I have spent the time visiting as many members of the Confederation as possible, including a visit north of the border hosted by Veterans Scotland. I am conscious that the membership stretches across the length and breadth of the country and that there is much more to see. The impressions that I have gained so far are no more than a snapshot. Nevertheless, the visits and conversations that I have had have been extremely stimulating and encouraging.

The Service Charities which make up the Cobseo membership are remarkably varied and diverse. Their objectives, structures, size, concerns and requirements are all different; some are small and very local, some are huge and national. However, the unifying purpose of this divergent group is a passion for the Armed Forces Community that they serve. In my contacts so far, whether in head offices, in London, or in the country, that passion has been striking and tangible.
