Read moreThe RAF Association is opening its Flying Scholarship awards for the eighteenth year to grant six exceptional young people the chance to fly.
So far, 99 air cadets have benefited from the programme, with the 100th cadet due to be among the 2018 finalists. The best of the 2018 applicants will be rewarded with a course of 35 hours flight training in a light aircraft. Five ‘runners-up’ will receive 12 hours training each. The Flying Scholarship programme runs annually as a thank you from the RAF Association to members of the RAF Air Cadets for their continuous support of the charity’s fundraising.
All of the 2017 winners achieved solo flights by the end of their week of training.

Read moreThe 2018 Clore Experienced Leaders Programme (ELP) is now open for applications. The one-year programme, starting in January, is open to individuals with six to ten years’ experience as a social sector leader and once again Forces in Mind Trust is offering to fund Specialist Fellowships.
The ELP is designed to further develop leaders who have ambition to drive social change in their communities and organisations. Clore Social has recently updated the Programme in response to in-depth sector research and consultation which showed participants would benefit from schemes tailored to specific levels of experience, with Clore 6 Cobseo designed for the Emerging leaders in the sector.

Reading Force supports the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of Forces families through the experience of shared reading by providing free books and reading scrapbooks to members of the Forces and their families. The scheme also includes Veterans, Reservists and Former Forces partners and children.
Families are encouraged to form reading groups to talk about the books they are sharing, and children are encouraged to keep a scrapbook to record their thoughts and feelings about the chosen title.

The participants come from a wide variety of charities and include: Glen Art, Housing Options Scotland, the Naval Families Federation, Stoll and the Royal British Legion. All participants will have the opportunity to utilise their applied learnings in team challenges to immediately transfer the skills they gain from the programme back into their organisations.
