Proposal to provide new homes and support services to homeless and vulnerable Veterans across the country

Servicemen and women leaving the Armed Forces, who struggle to reintegrate into civilian life, would benefit from vital new housing and support services in a landmark proposal announced today by Stoll, the leading provider of supported housing for Veterans in the UK.

Stoll intends to provide at least three hundred more homes for vulnerable and disabled Veterans in need, subject to the outcome of a consultation, to help address the shortfall in Veterans’ housing identified in research by the University of York.

High Sherriff of Dorset awards Help 4 Homeless Veterans volunteer

Ex-Soldier, David Wood volunteers for Help 4 Homeless Veterans recently received an award from the High Sheriff of Dorset for his work with the veterans community.

David was presented with a £250 cheque for Help 4 Homeless from the Dorset Shrieval Trust as well as a High Sheriff’s award certificate for his enormous contribution to the charity.

Big Lottery Fund awards Alabaré Homes For Veterans grant

Our Homes For Veterans service in Wales is set to be boosted by a grant we have we have received from the Big Lottery Fund. It will increase the support veterans receive within accommodation centres across Wales and work in partnership with other support agencies to provide a wrap-around service.

The sum of £497,758 will be given over the course of three years in order to fund two part time roles as well as eight full time positions to help provide support for veterans in Wales. The allocation of this grant is essential in allowing Alabaré to continue to help the lives of those who have served in the British Armed Forces but since fallen on hard times.

New home for Veterans Aid

Veterans Aid, the UK’s frontline operational charity for veterans in crisis, has moved to new headquarters.

From Monday 11th December 2017, after 12 years in Buckingham Palace Road, the charity will be operating from 27 Victoria Square, SW1W 0RB, just yards away from its old premises. Number 27 is the latest in a series of properties that have provided a base for the charity’s activities during its 85-year-history.

Aldershot housing development for Veterans moves a step closer

Stoll, the leading provider of supported housing for vulnerable and disabled Veterans, celebrated an important milestone at its latest bespoke housing development for Veterans, with the first roof tile being laid in the presence of Centenary Lodge’s first new resident.

The £10 million development, on schedule to open in Spring 2018, will create 34 much-needed homes in Aldershot for people with support needs who have served in the Armed Forces.

Andrea Howlett, Stoll’s Director of Housing and Development, was joined by Councillor Jacqui Vosper, former Mayor of Rushmoor, to lay the first roof tile.

14th December – Opening of Parry Court by Chief of Defence People – Haig’s first transitional housing development

Haig Housing is pleased to announce that the Chief of Defence People, Lieutenant General Richard E Nugee CVO CBE, will open Parry Court, Haig’s first transitional housing development adjacent to its Morden estate, on the morning of Thursday 14th December 2017.

For the last 100 years Haig Housing Trust has provided low cost, well maintained family homes for Veterans and their families and, latterly, has also bought and adapted homes on a shared equity basis for serving personnel and Veterans with life changing injuries.

Does the Army Families’ ‘Offer’ meet the needs of the modern Army family?

The Army Families Federation (AFF) is appealing to all Army families to take their latest survey and say whether they feel the package offered to them eases the impact that Service life can have. The charity is exploring various elements of the current package, or ‘Offer’ available to families, and how they translate to Army family life. This includes how aware families are of policies such as subsidised military housing, educational allowances, and healthcare policies such as support with assisted conception.
