Read moreAn Iraq War veteran who was blinded in conflict has been shortlisted in the prestigious ‘People’s Choice’ category sponsored by the Sunday Express in the seventh annual Soldiering On Awards.
Simon Brown, 38 and from Leeds, was nominated for the award by national military charity Blind Veterans UK, which has supported him since he lost his sight.

Reporter Victoria Smith recently filmed with Rick McGillivray, a veteran helped out of homelessness by E-FAN, a Covenant-funded project run by the Defence Medical Welfare Service and the Cheshire & Greater Manchester Rehabilitation Company. Rick fondly remembers his Army career but no longer has any photos from the time. The Welfare Team helped him to appeal on social media which led to numerous messages of support by friends he made in the Army and at school, as well as a number of photos.
