Read moreThe RAF Association is preparing to send its 100th air cadet flying, with its 2018 Flying Scholarship programme. Coinciding with the RAF centenary year, six air-minded youths will be awarded flight training including the 100th recipient of the Flying Scholarship. However, cadets’ keen to apply must hurry, the closing date for all entries is 31 January 2018.
Through the scholarship programme, air cadets are given the opportunity to take to the skies, with one air cadet awarded 35 hours flight training in a light aircraft. Five runners-up will each receive 12 hours.
Read moreThe Rainbow Centre childcare facility at RAF Marham officially opened an extension to the building this week enabling them to care for more children on a day to day basis.
In 2016 it became apparent that the Rainbow Centre would need to have an extension built due to the increased demand following the introduction of increased free childcare funding from 15 hours to 30 hours. The Rainbow Centre, rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, provides full and part time childcare for more than 400 children from RAF Marham and the surrounding area and employs over 70 staff.

Every week, Chris Kaye, a presenter on the radio station for Catterick Garrison, will discuss with an OA Career Consultant a different aspect of starting a new career after leaving the Armed Forces. Upcoming topics include coping with the challenge of transition; preparing for interviews and networking. The interview will then be shared across the whole British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) network.

129 individuals attended our 10 courses, 74% army, 14% RAF, 5% RN and 7% welfare organisation representatives/training support. Of which 82% were veterans, 10% serving and 8% partners.
The courses take place in The Lake District with The Brathay Trust. Affording among other attributes peace, tranquility and serenity.
