The Officers’ Association (OA) has appointed former British Army officer and business development consultant, Laura Blair to head up its Employment Services Team.
The role reports directly to OA CEO, Lee Holloway, and comes at a pivotal moment in the OA’s one hundred year history as it seeks to expand its relationships with business and government and cement its position as the leading officer-led employment services Charity in the UK.
Commenting on the new appointment, OA CEO Lee Holloway said:
“Our ambition at the OA is to enable British business to benefit from hiring former military trained officers and to recognise, particularly in our uncertain post-Covid world, the added-value they can bring to today’s employment marketplace.
Laura’s appointment will enable us to continue to grow our business network and together, with Laura’s experience and commitment, will help position the OA as the leading officer recruitment platform of choice.”
Laura’s previous roles include working as Head of Client Management for the global learning and development company Maynard Leigh, and Chief Operating Officer for The Forces Employment Charity (RFEA).
Having graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2000 and serving for 12 years in the UK and on operations, Laura understands the challenges facing fellow officers as they transition from military to civilian employment:
“I am delighted to join the OA and look forward to working with businesses to help broaden the portfolio of organisations able to recognise and value the skills and significant talents of former officers.
My aim is to ensure the transition between military and civilian employment becomes less challenging over time so I welcome the OA’s commitment to providing lifelong career support to officers and look forward to building new sustainable partnerships to help us all achieve our career ambitions.”
Laura’s appointment comes at an exciting time of development for the OA as they relocate from Mountbarrow House in London to Reading to rollout its enhanced programme of employment services.
