Staff from Parkdean Resorts converged on Newcastle recently for a fundraising netball tourney in aid of its chosen charity for 2022, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.
All in, some 130 staff from Parkdean Resorts – headquartered in Newcastle and with 66 holiday parks across England, Scotland, and Wales – played at the city’s Walker Activity Dome raising almost £1,100 for SSAFA, the UK’s oldest tri-service charity.
Parkdean’s Sub-Hire Capacity Manager Kelsy Mavin organised the tourney, and said:
“The whole idea of the event was to get our central and park teams together, and be part of a team sport, which hasn’t happened before. We wanted to keep it as fun as possible with the focus being on people’s well-being and health, and to do it for a great cause.
“SSAFA is our charity of the year and as a business we’re proud to support the Armed Forces community and their families – and raise money for it so it can keep on doing its amazing work.”
Kelsy added that it was a
“…really fun and successful day; everybody I’ve spoken to whether they were a player, spectator, or helper have a memorable story. I’m very passionate about bringing people together and creating memories, and this proves that it’s possible.”
Catherine Davison, SSAFA’s Commercial Fundraising Manager, commented:
“Hats off to Parkdean Resorts for its brilliant support and innovative fundraising. As Kesly mentioned, it’s fundraising like this that allows SSAFA to give the help to the Armed Forces’ community – serving, veteran, and their families – just as it has done for nearly 138 years, so a big ‘thank you’ to Parkdean from all of us.”
