NHS England has published information on the Contract Finder website relating to a market engagement event for the procurement of a national veterans’ mental health intensive service (VMH IS).
Building on the recent launch of the veterans’ mental health transition, liaison and intervention service, the VMH IS service will provide an enhanced service for veterans who have complex mental health problems that are attributable to military service, which have not been resolved earlier in the care/support pathway and require an intensive and assertive multi-disciplinary package of clinical and social interventions, where a military culturally-sensitive approach would assist the rapport and therapeutic outcome/s for the patient. The service will focus on those veterans who have complex mental health problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Assessment will indicate that the veteran has not responded to previous healthcare interventions; the veteran needs more intensive/assertive package of interventions; or the veteran may have been excluded from other primary or secondary mental health services.
This service will launch on 1 April 2018, replacing NHS funded residential services for medium to severe PTSD, which conclude at the end of March 2018.
The market engagement event will take place on 31 July 2017 in London and will provide:
- an overview of the services to be provided
- details of the anticipated contract type, length and particular conditions
- an overview of the procurement process and the anticipated timeline.
Please visit the Contract Finder website to find out more and register for the event.
In preparation for this event and to help inform the specification for this service, interested parties are invited to complete a market survey, which is also available on the website.
