About us
The RAF Association is one of the leading providers of welfare support to the RAF community. We exist to ensure that the sacrifice of veterans and serving RAF personnel (and their families) does not result in suffering, poverty, loneliness or isolation. Last year, we supported over 85,500 members of the RAF community who required practical, emotional or financial assistance. We play a key role in creating a resilient, empowered and thriving RAF community.
We have reacted rapidly and decisively to combat the effects that COVID-19 has on the RAF community including the launch of our new Wellbeing Hub. This is an exciting opportunity to join us at the start of this journey by playing a key role within the wellbeing arena, establishing and developing new and current services.
About the team
The Wellbeing Services Officer (WSO) is the subject lead on our health and wellbeing services which includes the ‘Finding it Tough?’ portal which is our flagship mental wellbeing initiative which is a free course designed to build resilience in the RAF Community. This is not a ‘usual’ health and wellbeing role! You will be joining a team of energetic and passionate individuals at an exciting time in our development and growth. We pride ourselves on our positive and proactive engagement with our colleague, beneficiaries, volunteers, stakeholders and partners. You will be supported by colleagues, and work collaboratively on other services which include our ‘Navigating Dementia’ platform, Storybook Wings, Doodle Packs and Christmas hampers activities and services.
About you
Experience of delivering services in the field of wellbeing support is essential for this role. This is definitely an opportunity where your personality and positive ‘lets’ do this!’ attitude will inspire, support and lead on wellbeing services in your subject area and you will be a confident networker who can establish a great rapport with a diverse range of individuals. You will be able to evaluate data and identify how we can continually improve and streamline our product. A creative individual will thrive in this environment as you will be creating fresh and engaging content for our websites and platforms, therefore a moderate level of IT capability is a prerequisite for this position.
Overall, we are looking for a passionate individual who has the desire to use their wellbeing skills and experience for a wider social purpose and as a result will gain immense job satisfaction from seeing these worthwhile activities reach those who really need it as well as being part of a collaborative values led organisation.
It is highly recommended that you read the supporting job description and person specification prior to applying for the role.
