About us

The Royal Air Force Families Federation (RAFFF) exists to improve the quality of life for the RAF family around the world – at work or at home. We provide an independent voice for serving personnel and their families. It is a confidential service that relies upon the integrity, and professionalism of its staff to deliver a Federation that is both credible and respected by all parties. We provide practical support and advice as well as lobbying for change with politicians, the Chain of Command and policy makers in the British Government across Scotland, Wales and NI. We are a supportive, friendly team and are passionate in our support for military personnel and family members whilst retaining a keen eye on work/life balance for all team members.

About the team

The RAF Families Federation is a team of passionate, solution focused individuals. Reporting to the Director, you will manage a small team of Policy Specialists advocating for RAF personnel and families, and changing the way things are done to make life better for people. You will work with the RAF, MOD, central and local government, the Devolved Administrations and other charities to make this change. This is a role where issues you and your team raise may be important in shaping government policy. You will be part of a fantastic, committed team, and achieve the real satisfaction of being a significant part of taking services from concept to life – and seeing the difference these programmes make to the RAF community we support.

About You

You will be a passionate and experienced manager who is a confident and fluent communicator, with a good understanding of the service lifestyle. This is a significant role in shaping government policies that impact most on RAF families, and requires someone with the necessary confidence, initiative and experience to influence and engage. You will collaborate with your colleagues in planning an effective programme of visits and workshops to engage with the largest number of RAF personnel and families possible. You will be happy to carry out pre-planned travel throughout the UK as required to develop a network of senior stakeholders to make this work a success. (Travel will be post Covid) A driving license and access to a vehicle are an essential requirement for this role.
