Battle Back Centre Lilleshall was established by the Royal British Legion in 2011 to support wounded and injured service personnel. The Centre’s aim is to help ensure the best possible recovery for the Armed Forces community.
It is a residential facility offering recovery programmes combining adaptive sport and inclusive adventure-based activities, delivered by skilled coaches, typically of 4 nights/5 days, for up to 24 beneficiaries. As well as supporting wounded, injured and sick service personnel, the centre has also introduced wellbeing courses for veterans and families. Access to programmes at the Battle Back Centre is unrestricted and open irrespective of whether the injury or illness was caused by Service or not, and whether the injury or illness is physical, mental or a combination – focusing on what someone can achieve instead of what they cannot.
We are seeking an independent evaluator for 24 months (with a possibility of extension), to consider the impact of the programme, key elements of success, areas for future improvement in effectiveness and efficiency, and to help us understand what an optimal recovery pathway looks like.
