Research Outcomes: Ex-Armed Service Personnel: Journeys to Harmful Behaviour

In 2022 the Probation Institute and Liverpool John Moores University published an important research report, “Ex-Armed Services Personnel – Journeys to Harmful Behaviour”. The purpose of the project, funded by Forces in Mind Trust, was to better understand the lives of individuals who have served in a military role and have committed serious harm to others, including sexual abuse.

Since publication, the project team have embarked on a knowledge exchange and implementation strategy. As a number of the recommendations concern the armed services charities, the team will hold a knowledge exchange seminar on July 27th with the project leads, Helen Schofield (ACO Probation Institute), Breda Leyne (Project Manager), and Dr Emma Murray (Academic Lead, Liverpool John Moores University).

Representatives from armed services charities and the COBSEO Justice and Research Clusters are invited to join the to share ideas on appropriate responses, discuss the recommendations and to consider next steps, including potential training.

Thursday 27 July 2023: 12-1.30 pm, Mountbarrow House, 12 Elizabeth Street, London, SW1W 9RB
