RNRMC: Hitting the Slopes in Les Deux Alpes

This weekend marks the beginning of the Royal Navy’s much-anticipated RN Snowsports Festival, an exciting event that promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Royal Navy & Royal Marine Charity (RNRMC) is proud to provide significant funding towards this year’s festival in France, incorporating the Royal Navy Single Service Ski and Snowboard Championships.

The RN Snowsports Festival has been a fixture in the military sporting calendar for over 40 years, with this year’s proceedings taking place from 11 January to 25 January, with over 700 personnel in attendance.

Open to all ranks, ratings, reservists, veterans, and their families, the festival creates a unique and inclusive environment where everyone has the chance to experience the joy and challenge of winter sports.

RNRMC funding will ensure that this incredible event continues to flourish and expand, allowing all participants, from beginners to advanced athletes, to push their limits and hone their skills.

“For over four decades, this event has been a vital opportunity for service personnel and their families to not only enjoy the thrill of winter sports but also develop essential life skills such as discipline, courage, and self-belief. The dedication of the military instructors and the inclusive nature of the event reflect the very values the Royal Navy upholds, and we are honoured to play a part in ensuring these opportunities continue to thrive for all participants” – Anne Carr, Head of Grants at RNRMC

For many, the Snowsports Festival offers the rare opportunity to engage in a sport that may otherwise be inaccessible. Thanks to support from RNRMC, more personnel will be able to participate in this unforgettable event.

The festival not only nurtures individual athletic ability but also strengthens bonds within the Navy community, fostering teamwork and mutual respect.

Members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, come together to enjoy the thrill of skiing and snowboarding in the stunning alpine terrain – as the event kicks off tomorrow, all eyes are on the slopes as attendees prepare to take on new challenges, build lasting memories, and continue the tradition of excellence in winter sports.
