On April 15th our Head of Events Rosie Thompson and beneficiary Martin Wilson crossed the finish line of the Marathon Des Sables’ Fifth Stage. In doing so, they officially became ‘Finishers’ of the 32nd instalment of the famous endurance race, which sees competitors cross over 250km of the Moroccan Sahara Desert in just 6 days.
Runners are required to be self-sufficient, carrying all of their kit (including food) up and down dunes and across long stretches of sand in temperatures reaching 50 ͦ C.Having succeeded in their venture, both Rosie and Martin are overwhelmed by the scale of their achievement. Completing such a task is extraordinary and we are so unbelievably proud of our ‘Daring Duo’Their feat is the embodiment of the NFA’s motto ‘From Comradeship To Challenge’ and serves as an inspiration to us all. Rosie and Martin, we salute you!
