Circa £36k salary and benefits:
The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is the RAF’s leading welfare charity, and facilitates the provision of help and support for ex-RAF personnel and their eligible dependants who are in need of assistance. Part of that help is providing support to our older generation of veterans who cannot afford the cost of their care at home, residential care fees, and disability and mobility equipment.
We are seeking a compassionate and highly organised individual to join the Housing & Care team which delivers care solutions as part of our overall support for the RAF family. Working within a team of welfare executives, you will have responsibility for identifying the needs of beneficiaries, delivering appropriate assistance within delegated spending authority and presenting higher value applications to the Grants Committees of the Fund. In addition to an ability to handle welfare casework, the Care Executive works closely with the Advocacy Executive to identify when to challenge statutory authorities who are failing to fund essential services, to ensure that the Fund’s financial interventions are to enhance statutory provision rather than to substitute for it.
The successful candidate will need to have relevant welfare casework experience and preferably some knowledge of care legislation, although relevant training will be provided. An articulate communicator with IT skills suited to working in a paperless environment, you must be able to demonstrate an ability to relate to people of all ages, especially vulnerable beneficiaries, in a manner which is conducive to relieving stresses and concerns through holistic consideration and delivery of welfare solutions.
A detailed job profile is available on the Fund’s website, www.rafbf.org.uk or via this link. For an informal discussion about the role please contact Philip Wiles, Head of Housing & Care, on 020 7307 3355.
To apply, please send your CV together with a covering letter detailing why you believe you are suitable for this role and providing examples of how you meet the person specification to Pete Thompson, HR Manager, RAF Benevolent Fund, 67 Portland Place, London W1B 1AR or email pete.thompson@rafbf.org.uk.
The closing date for internal applications is midnight on Thursday 22nd March 2018. Initial interviews will take place the following week. The Fund reserves the right to open this vacancy up to external candidates at their sole discretion.
The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is a Registered Charity (No. 1081009) which encourages applications from all sections of the community
