Royal Star and Garter

Royal Star & Garter residents gear up for Christmas

Residents at Royal Star & Garter have helped decorate their care homes as they prepare for Christmas.

The veterans who live at the charity’s three Homes, in Solihull, Surbiton and High Wycombe, helped with Christmas trees and putting up decorations.

They are also being treated to a number of festive art and crafts and cookery activities, carol concerts, pantomimes and outings in the run-up to the special day.

Royal Star & Garter is a charity which provides loving, compassionate care to veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia, and has launched new services, such as Lunch Club and Day Care, into the community.

Across the Homes, dedicated Wellbeing Teams have been helping residents get into the festive spirit. School choirs have visited and sung carols, and there have also been live concerts, arts and crafts activities, and garden centre visits.

In Solihull, volunteers from Paragon Bank and military student nurses from Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham came into help decorate the trees with residents and staff.

In Surbiton, veterans have made Christmas puddings, and taken part in Christmas karaoke sessions.

At High Wycombe, residents and people using Day Care also enjoyed yuletide pub outings, plus a Christmas party at the Home.

On Christmas Day, Santa will drop each resident a bespoke present. The Homes will also be filled with visitors, many of whom will stay to enjoy a delicious Christmas dinner.

Royal Star & Garter is welcoming new residents into its three Homes. For more information on this, the new services it provides, or to work for the charity, go to www.starandgarter.org
