- A number of colleagues from Sainsbury’s Meadowbank are providing support to revitalise the garden and outdoor facilities at Scottish Veterans Residences in Edinburgh.
- Sainsbury’s Group is inviting all colleagues to spend a day volunteering to celebrate milestone birthday.
- Colleagues across the UK will take part in 150 days of community activities.
Sainsbury’s Meadowbank announces volunteering with Scottish Veterans Residences (SVR) in Edinburgh. This initiative is part of the supermarket’s 150th birthday celebrations which includes 150 days of volunteering across the country that continues the company’s history of putting local communities first.
Sainsbury’s volunteers have painted planters in bright colours, brought garden furniture back to life and helped to prepare for an Armed Forces day barbeque at the Whitefoord House residence which is home to over 80 Armed Forces Veterans.
Store Manager Martin Lowe said:
“We’re really excited to be helping a local cause so close to our hearts – it’s a great way for our colleagues to come together and support the community. It’s so important for us to give back to our local community and what better time that in our 150th year.”

“Our veterans and staff are very impressed by the commitment from Sainsbury’s Meadowbank. Having Sainsbury’s staff volunteer with us has made a huge improvement to the outside spaces for our residents to enjoy. It has been a pleasure to meet such friendly, willing and enthusiastic volunteers.”
