Watch what happens when three highly trained ex-forces take on 100 members of the public in an adrenaline-fuelled challenge held to mark the launch of BFBS radio’s new UK schedule.
Led by SAS: Who Dares Wins lead instructor, Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham – a former SAS Sergeant Major and Special Forces Instructor with 26 years of military experience – the trio ran rings around their opposition.
Billy’s team of three includes ex-sniper Richard French, who served with the Coldstream Guards and the 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment and Hannah May, formerly a sergeant in the Royal Artillery and instructor at Larkhill, the British Army’s principal training centre for artillery warfare. The three veterans used more than 60 years of combined military experience to overcome wave after wave of opponents.
The impressive event, which took place at Go Paintball London, was organised by the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional abilities of the British military, as well as their resilience in challenging situations.
BFBS Radio offers a dynamic blend of fresh new music and classic tracks, with engaging content that tells stories from across the Forces world for anybody interested in military life in the UK. The new UK schedule line-up which went live this week, includes a new national Breakfast Show, a Drivetime show networked worldwide, and an Evening show from BFBS Northern Ireland.
Billy Billingham said:
“I have a lot of great memories of BFBS Radio – it was that comfort blanket for me while being away from home with the military for the first time. For this reason, it was fantastic to be part of the paintball challenge to launch BFBS Radio’s new UK schedule. For me, this victory highlights the skills of the British forces across the spectrum and what they’re capable of, despite the odds often being stacked against them.”
Nicky Ness, Director of Broadcasting and Entertainment BFBS said:
“BFBS Radio prides itself in its unwavering commitment to celebrating the remarkable skills of the British armed forces. Through entertainment and awareness on our radio station in the UK, we aim to bring the military community closer to the public, fostering understanding and appreciation. This event was just a glimpse of the incredible feats our armed forces can achieve in the face of adversity, and we’re proud to share their story with the world.”
