Six day ultra marathon adventure for Hampshire Veteran

Jim Yeardley, a 49 year old army veteran from Hampshire, is running the 156 mile Coastal Challenge in Costa Rica for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. The ultra-marathon sends runners along sandy beaches, through rain forests and across rivers and gorges.

Jim, from Liss, works for Bloomberg UK in London. The company is supporting his run by match-funding any money he raises. Jim served with the Royal Corp of Signals based in York.

Jim said:

“By all accounts, it’s going to be brutal. We will run around 25 miles per day in extreme terrain, with temperatures of around 30 to 35 degrees and will be camping along the way in our own tents.

“I was in the army for seven years, and, as a proud veteran, I feel the need to try to raise some money. Anything people donate is doubled by my employer, so if you can spare a little, would be honoured if you would sponsor me”.

Jim’s wife, Samantha, will be travelling with him to offer moral and practical support during the gruelling challenge.
