The 2023 Soldiering On Awards Education, Training, and Development Award – supported by Capita – honours excellence in the provision of vocational education, training or skills development.
This may be in the fields of preparatory, ongoing or transitional development for members of the wider Armed Forces community.
The finalists are:
BFBS Academy
For organisations, teams, and individuals, BFBS Academy provides high-quality vocational training in digital communications and media production, offering both established accredited courses and customised training.
BFBS Academy courses are available to all British military veterans, promoted within the military community and via BFBS’s social media and radio communication channels. Consequently, their reach is extensive.
Newtown Army Cadet Force – Gwent & Powys ACF
Newtown Army Cadets provides a service to young people in the local community, ranging from 12-18 years, both male and female, in a small rural town in mid Wales.
The detachment is expertly led by a group of Cadet Adult Volunteers and is building local links in the community, working with other agencies to help out with volunteering and joint working.
TechVets
TechVets helps military families overcome confidence issues, financial and logistical difficulties, and employer resistance, by providing high-quality IT training and mentoring.
In 2022 alone, TechVets helped 200+ military leavers and families find meaningful careers, providing £30k worth of free, specialist IT training. The estimated median average salary of successfully-placed graduates is £52,500.
