About the role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a part-time Child Health Nurse (School Health) to join the Community Health Team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity in the Western Sovereign Base Area, Cyprus.

The Child Health Nurse (School Health) is the key health worker in allocated schools, working across education and health to provide a link between school, home, and the community. The role involves working with school-aged children and young people (Reception year – Year 13) up to 19 years old in education and working with the Community Health Team to deliver the Healthy Child Programme across the school-aged population. The role is supported by the Episkopi Locality Team Leader/ Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Health).

About the team

There are 3 SSAFA locality Community Health teams in Cyprus, each team is led by a Locality Team Manager, the teams consist of Midwives, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Community Children’s Nurses, CAMHS, Dietitian and Speech and Language Therapists. The Community Health Service is supported by a Child Consultant Psychiatrist and a Community Paediatrician who provide a peripatetic visiting service from the UK

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will be an NMC registered Nurse with a commitment to delivering a high standard of child focused, family centred care. Experience of undertaking immunisations would be an advantage although training can be given. The ability to work autonomously, as well as being an effective team player, are essential.
