A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Director in the Volunteer Operations department at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced senior manager to provide operational and strategic support to all volunteers in SSAFA’s network, both UK-based and overseas. The Deputy Director of Volunteer Operations will be responsible for enabling SSAFA’s volunteer-led network of branches, service committees and community volunteer groups to deliver quality services that meet and exceed internal and external regulatory standards. This role has a particular focus on identifying and managing risk, managing complaints and developing a policy and quality framework by which our services to clients can be governed and assured.
Requirements
To carry out this role successfully you will have experience of working with, and engaging, volunteers across a wide geographical area. You will have significant experience and demonstrable knowledge and understanding of legislation and guidance, policy and procedures, and best practice in relation to volunteering and the provision of volunteer delivered services in a welfare context. You will have the skills and diplomacy to deal with complex grievances and complaints. You will be skilled in producing and analysing management information reports and statistical information in order to make both strategic and tactical decisions to further the work of SSAFA and support to our clients. You will have senior management experience, an ability to prioritise and manage workload, delegating to and supporting a wider team where necessary.
