A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full-time Gurkha Services Manager in the Welfare Department at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.
About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated person to initiate and coordinate SSAFA’s volunteer action to improve the welfare support of ex-Forces Gurkhas, their families and communities through SSAFA Branches. There are approximately 12,500 ex-Forces Gurkha families in the areas covered by around 20 SSAFA Branches; your role involves visiting these Branch locations throughout the UK. You will improve welfare services by identifying and sharing best practice, and working in collaboration with other organisations for the support and integration of Gurkhas in their UK communities.
Requirements
To carry out this role successfully you will have:
- Knowledge of Gurkha language, community and culture
- Experience of managing community development initiatives
- Experience of working with volunteers
- Strong networking skills
