SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is looking for a creative and innovative Head of PR to lead the continued growth in our profile. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a high performing team and make a tangible difference to the growth of the organisation.

About the role

The Head of PR will determine the PR strategy with the Director of Marketing and Communications to support the organisational strategy. You will be responsible for all external affairs of the organisation, increasing the profile of the brand and our work to deliver our strategic aims and supporting our network of volunteers regionally. Leading a high performing team, this is an opportunity for an ambitious individual to shape the future communications strategy of the organisation and ensure that the profile of the organisation continues to grow.

Requirements

To carry out this role successfully you will…

  • Lead on the development and implementation of an external communications strategy in line with the strategic plan, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Developed and promoted a coherent set of messages through innovative communications campaign plans targeted at relevant audiences that reflect the strategic priorities and result in positive media coverage.
  • Established credible relationships with journalists, target media, national media titles, trade magazines, radio, broadcast media outlets and bloggers, to facilitate access to appropriate two-way communication channels in furtherance of key messages.
  • Managed and protected an organisations reputation, ensuring any crisis is effectively managed and the relevant people are kept abreast of developments.
