SSAFA’s Personal Support & Social Work Service has a vacancy for a part-time Personal & Family Support Worker at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire. The service provides a professional, confidential and comprehensive range of social work and welfare support services to the RAF Community within the UK.

About the team
The Personal Support & Social Work Service comprises of 60 qualified and un-qualified social workers and administration support. We have a presence at RAF stations across the UK.
This role is located at RAF Leeming, part of the friendly and supportive North Team. We are a hard-working team, dispersed across the North of England. Although we all have our own area of responsibility, we support each other in delivering the best possible service to the military community. You’ll join us as we mark 30 years of serving the RAF as the PS & SWS.
About the role
This is a unique opportunity for an empathic person to join our team and contribute to the further development of the service. You will have the opportunity to develop and add to your existing skills and knowledge base in the Social Care field whilst providing welfare support to all serving RAF personnel, their immediate family and dependents. You will be conducting need assessments for our service users to plan and create the appropriate intervention required. You’ll work closely with Station Commanding Officers across a vast geographical area, as well as with relevant Local Authorities, Health and other civilian agencies. This is an exciting and sometimes unpredictable role where no two days are the same!

About you
To carry out this role successfully you will have:
- Demonstrable experience of working in the field of Health and Social Care i.e., local authority, children and families/adults’ services.
- Proven experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans and monitoring and reviewing outcomes – this is fundamental to excelling within this role.
- Demonstrable organisational skills to manage a varied caseload.
- Excellent IT skills including experience of using a case management system.
You must be prepared to travel in the course of your work and a full driving licence and use of car are essential.

Interviews: 23 & 24 August 2021. If you are invited to attend an interview you will be required to undertake an aptitude test as part of the selection process. You will also be asked to complete a ten-minute presentation and complete a case study analysis.
