A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Volunteer Support Manager to support branches and service committees at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.
About the role
Based in Wales with frequent travel across the region and to London, you will provide regular support with recruitment, engagement and associated activities to our volunteer officers across the regions. Building relationships with the Welsh Government and the National Assembly for Wales, representatives of military and other charities will be essential. The successful applicant will ideally be Welsh speaking.
In addition, you will be a member of the team developing best practice guidance and tools to be used across the volunteer network of some 6000 volunteers, almost 4000 of whom are directly delivering services, making SSAFA a truly volunteer led organisation.
Requirements
To carry out this role successfully you will have a passion for working with volunteers and a commitment to volunteer delivered services. Whilst a military background is not essential it would be an advantage, however previous experience of working with volunteers is preferred, along with an understanding of their motivation.
Previous experience of supporting volunteer groups, preferably in recruitment, the development and embedding of best practice, external awareness raising and the ability to prioritise a wide range of competing demands are key to the success in this post. Additionally, the confidence to present to a wide range of influential audiences is essential.
