The Army Benevolent Fund is delighted to award a £47,000 grant to drug, alcohol, and mental health charity, WithYou, towards its dedicated Armed Forces Community (AFC) programme.
WithYou is a national charity providing specialist drug, alcohol, mental health treatment and recovery services to over 100,000 people across England and Scotland every year. Between 2022 and 2023, the charity experienced a 35% increase in the number of veterans referred to its treatment services.
Our grant will help fund the AFC programme, which is tailored specifically for veterans’ needs, supporting around 1500 beneficiaries annually. It focuses on treatment and support for people experiencing drugs, alcohol, and mental health difficulties.
Andy Craze, National Armed Forces Programme Lead, WithYou, said:
“Over recent years, we have seen demand for our support increase significantly. This funding will help continue delivering vital support whilst being able to further our reach to more of the Armed Forces Community and organisations to ensure the level of care they need and deserve. We are very grateful for the continued support of the ABF.
Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer, Army Benevolent Fund, added:
“WithYou provides a highly impressive treatment and recovery service to veterans and has an excellent track record in reducing the harm to Army families caused by drugs and alcohol. We are pleased to award another grant to its specialist work this year.”
